Effects of soy protein supplementation in strength training women adepts
Abstract
Objective: Analyze the effect of soy protein supplementation in muscle mass preservation or gain in strength training women with an intense routine. Methods and materials: 12 women that do strength training were divided in two groups, one with soy protein supplementation and the other without it. Both groups done a standard strength training protocol with an aerobic part as warm out. Results: The group that take the supplementation had a fat mass loss of 6.75% where the non-supplementation group had a 3.22% loss. There was a lean mass gain of 3.53% in the supplementation group and 3.11% in the non-supplementation group. The skin fold sum of the supplementation group reduced 4.20% while the non-supplementation group reduce 5.03%. The abdominal skin fold reduced 7.29% in the supplementation group and 3.13% in the non-supplementation group. Abdominal circumference raised 1.12% in the supplementation group and reduced 0.76% in the non-supplementation group. The BMI raised 0.08% in the supplementation group and 1.64% in the non-supplementation group. There was a loss of 6.74% in the fat percentage of the supplementation group and a loss of 4.35% in the non-supplementation group. Conclusion: Soy protein supplementation help women in fat mass lost, lowering fat percentage and abdominal subcutaneous fat.
