Relation of the consumption of whey protein isolated and as supporting in physical activity
Abstract
Individuals seeking physical activity to maintain or improve health. However, when performed strongly, promotes oxidative stress and may require the use of dietary supplements. The whey protein (WP) is a protein supplement made from whey, which is widely used due to their beneficial properties to health in general. The objective of this study was to demonstrate, through a systematic review, the relationship of the use of whey protein and isolated as an adjunct in physical activity. Found 16 international papers on humans and animals approaching the whey protein with exercise performance or not. It has been found different protocols of training and diet. Results were lower weight, reduced body fat, increased satiety, easy digestibility, increased bone mineral density, lean body mass, muscle and liver glycogen and strength. In general, the consumption of whey protein promoted improvement in both health and performance, but nothing can replace a balanced diet and adequate for your lifestyle.
