Alimentary supplements consumption by exercise practitioners in Potim –SP
Abstract
We can clearly see the consumption of nutritional supplements for physically active in the academies. The objective of this study verify the consumption of nutritional supplements in-exercising in gyms bodybuilding Potim -SP. This is a descriptive survey, the sample of 30 users of nutritional supplements, aged between 15 and 35 years, 87% male and 13% female. Supplement use was determined by applying a questionnaire on exercise, supplements most used, purpose of use, who stated. The weekly exercise time was 3 hours in 33%, 73% practiced physical activity over 1 year, 63% aims to increase and define muscle, being the most widely practiced fitness in 77% of respondents. The supplements were the most consumed Whey Protein, Creatine, Albumin, Amino Acids, Mass calorie, Maltodextrin, thermogenic, most people do use it daily. The main goal with the supplement was increased muscle mass and definition, and all are satisfied with their use. The indication of the supplement was 53% for physical education teachers. The cost of supplements has been reported mostly from R $ 51.00 R $ 71.00 (30%, n = 9). The results are similar to those found in literature. One can conclude from this study is that increasing the intake of supplements without proper control, since its use has not been indicated by experts, showing the need for more studies about supplements and their effects to increase the level of information about these and ensure safety in its use.
