Abstract
Nowadays, the need for accurate information about nutrition in sport is increasing. Everyone knows that an athlete's performance, whether elite or recreational, is influencedby the nutrients taken in by him. Athletes are surrounded by misinformation about food, and looking for success, many use any diet or supplement for getting fit or performance desired. Purpose: This study aims to assess the nutrition knowledge of professional soccer players, by applying a scale, and to identify possible factors that can influence it. The sample consisted of 25 professional soccer players, all male, all in training and competition. The variables used were height, body mass and nutritional knowledge. The results showed that the athletes had, in most cases, low nutrition knowledge. We conclude that professional soccer players have a low nutritional knowledge, which can be attributed in part to selected sources to get information about nutrition, which are mostly obtained study without any scientific background, making this erroneous information and untrustworthy.
