Hydration in adolescent athletes - Habits and level of knowledge
Abstract
The hydration, in various stages of the training or competition, depend on the individual needs of macro and micronutrients, the duration of the exercise, the climate, and on the organic wear and tear caused by each specific sport. All these factors influence directly in the performance, in the hydro electrolytic balance and in the maintenance of the body temperature. In order to investigate the knowledge level about hydration and its impact among the athletes of Olímpico Club, located in Belo Horizonte city / MG, a questionnaire was applied with 20 closed subjects. The sample was composed by adolescent athletes, females and males, between 11 and 17 years, practitioners of different sports. The development of Sports Nutrition believes that the athletes will only have an appropriated hydration habit through a systematic work and informative campaigns on the "magnitude" of the hydration and the organic repercussions caused by the absence and or inadequacy of the same. It will be extremely necessary the understanding and the recovery of this issue by the various teams and clubs, once they will be the multipliers of this knowledge
