Analysis of water loss and heart rate in young athletes: in aerobic exercise of long duration
Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was to analyze the water loss and heart rate of young athletes in aerobic exercise of long duration, comparing the changes in body mass and heart rate variation. Six different athletics runners in mean age (15.1 ± 0.75 years) were used in these trials. Results and Discussion: The runners were evaluated before, during and after the test, where the body weight, height, heart rate, time and distance traveled was collected. The statistical analysis showed dehydration level by all methods. Conclusion: all runners had a water loss of 2.8 ± 0.95% and a variation of heart rate from (173.2 ± 2.88 bpm) during the test to (198.6 ± 2.73 bpm) just after the test, when the athletes indicates thirst and cramps and a picture of fatigue. Other studies must be done taking into account the importance of this variable to athletic performance.
