Assessment of nutritional status and food intake x calorific of professional football players series D of the 2010 Brazilian Championship Football Club Botafogo, Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo.
Abstract
Objective: To assess the nutritional status of players and verify the adequacy of dietary intake in relation to the proposed recommendations. Materials and Methods: We analyzed 25 players professional series D of the Brazilian Championship 2010, male, Botafogo Futebol Clube, Ribeirao Preto, Brazil. The dietary assessment was registered by the food consumption of 3 typical days to obtain the mean of food intake. We calculated the energy expenditure, evaluating food intake x energy expenditure. Results and Discussion: there was a mean percentage body fat of 10.74%, being within the nutritional recommendations. The average calorie intake was 2448kcal presenting lower daily energy needs, affecting the physical performance of the athlete, the average carbohydrate intake was 5.23 g / kg / day and are among the tracks daily recommendations and the average protein intake was 1.82 g / kg / day, which is above the daily requirement. Athletes should be aware that increasing protein intake in the diet beyond the levels recommended takes no additional increase in lean body mass. Conclusion: Nutritional education by specialized procedures is crucial for a proper diet for footballplayers.
