Nutritional assessment in football players from Vale do Ribeira in the age group of 13 to 15 years
Abstract
Football is characterized by the practice of intermittent and variable intensity exercises, requiring adequate nutrition, with adequate amounts of macronutrients and micronutrients for each player, to favor the maintenance of energy reserves for competition, in addition to promoting a quick recovery between sessions. training/competition and maintain good health in general. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the food consumption and nutritional status of athletes aged 13 to 15 years old, in football schools in Vale do Ribeira. The Body Mass Index (BMI) was evaluated by measuring weight and height. The sample consisted of 40 athletes in two cities, namely: Cajati-SP and Pedro de Toledo-SP. Athletes answered a food consumption marker questionnaire, and an assessment of body composition was also performed. Most athletes have an age-appropriate BMI. The results of the present study suggest that nutritional interventions be carried out in football players, aiming only to improve their performance and provide a reserve of muscle glycogen, since the vast majority are eutrophic.
