Acute response to carbohydrate intake in women practicing high-intensity interval training (HIIT)
Abstract
Introduction: HIIT is a high-intensity interval training, with movements interspersed between high and low intensity. A good energy supply is essential for practitioners of physical exercises who need an adequate energy supply. Thus, it is common to use ergogenic resources, especially carbohydrates, to maintain good performance and delay fatigue in training. Thus, doce de leite is an option, as it is a source of fast-absorbing and highly palatable carbohydrates and can be used as a dietary resource. Objective: To verify the effects of carbohydrates as energy sources on the performance of women practicing HIIT. Materials and Methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional, interventional study carried out in the field. The participants performed a HIIT training, protocol 30/30. They performed three meetings: in the first, the incremental test was performed to determine the maximum speed for carrying out the research; in the second, the physical test without the use of any type of supplementation; in the third meeting, the test was performed with the ingestion of 30g of doce de leite, 30 minutes before training. Results: All showed a higher performance when they used doce de leite in their training. The results showed a 34% increase in the distance covered when they used doce de leite in their training. Conclusion: It is concluded that doce de leite as a pre-workout can improve performance.
