Abstract

Objective: To study hydration practices of men Jiu-jitsu, both in training, and during the competitions of this sport. Materials and Methods: In this study employment is an exploratory methodology, through a descriptive study, by employing a standardized questionnaire containing 18 objective questions and self-governing, as applied to athletes before a marathon, and judo. We delivered a total of 100 questionnaires, of which 91 returned questionnaires. Thus, for the calculations involving the study, we build on the 91 questionnaires returned. The studyinclusion criterion was the sex of Jiu-jitsu and is not therefore required the involvement of members belonging to the female, thus aiming to restrict the universe of our study group. Results and Discussion: Given that only those who hydrate during training or competition had a custom fit for your best performance, we found that more than 70% of the practitioners interviewed consume fluids during training and competitions. It is interesting to note that the number of athletes with poor habits of hydration at 45% of respondents, especially during competitions, demonstrating the lack of knowledge about the importance of proper hydration with the aim of a good physical performance. Of the total 45.1% of athletes to hydrate with sports drinks after exercise. This type of behavior is not ideal to replenish glycogen and water homeostasis. When asked about the types of drinks usually consumed by the respondents noted that the results point to increased consumption of water for hydration (86%). Conclusions: We realize that hydration adopted, in most cases is not performed properly.
