Abstract

The present study has the objective of checking the dehydration level in young soccer players, observing body mass changes, total body water by bioelectrical impedance and plasma volume variations after a 90 minutes soccer game. Nine young (18.44 ± 1.24 years) male soccer players of a sport soccer team of Paraná participated of this study. This study happened before, during and after the soccer game. The players were evaluated before and after the game, where the weight, height, total body water and body fat percentage was collected by bioelectrical impedance. There were collected blood samples before and after the game to check dehydration level by the plasma volume change. The liquid consumption and the urinary excretion were controlled after the collect of the first dates until the collect of the second dates (after the game). The statistical analysis showed dehydration level by all methods. In conclusion, all soccer players decreased body water, but only one player had a significant decrease in volume plasma, affecting performance. Other studies must be done with different temperatures as well as testing the field place of each player during the soccer play.
