Glutamine and physical activity

Abstract

Glutamine is the most present aminoacid in the human body, and is very important fuel for many key-cells in the immune system. There has been a lot of speculation about the glutamine ergogenic action, as its use has show positive effects in clinical situations, and there is evidence that this aminoacids is important for the leucocytes functionality. However, the precise glutamine effects in the exercise is not determined yet. The glutamine activity is related the class and intensity of the training. After intensive training the plasmatic concentration of this aminoacid reduces, suppress the immune function, consequently the athlete stay more vulnerable of the respiration infection. Based on facts we can see that the intensive training and nutrition have a different influence in immune system. Studies show that the glutamines oral consume alone after training and the consume that carbohydrate and glutamine together can stock glicogenium in muscle. This article, however, check any studies about glutamine’s effects in muscles and about the immune system of the athletes.
