Nutritional education and preparations for acceptance of assessment culinary containing fruit and vegetables for athletes teens
Abstract
Nutrition is important at all stages of life, however, in childhood and adolescence, a healthy, adequate and balanced diet is essential because the body undergoes intense physical transformations. Studies show that consumption of fruits and vegetables are relatively low in this age group. Although the practice of physical exercises provide health benefits in competitive sports there is a greater wear of the athlete generating an imbalance in the body, increasing the need for vitamins and minerals. The aim of this study was to evaluate nutrition education and acceptance of culinary preparations containing fruits and vegetables for teen athletes. Participated 120 athletes of both sexes aged 6-17 years in sports handball, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics, futsal and basketball. An interactive discussion with participants addressing the theme consumption, and importance of fruits and vegetables in food preparations, with visual help of fresh food after tasting two preparations and finally a short questionnaire acceptability of the preparation was performed. Despite not having much knowledge about fruits and vegetables, the athletes were interested. On tasting, the zucchini cake was 82.5% satisfaction and the apple cake was 72.5% satisfaction. The largest number of dissatisfaction was found in tennis, gymnastics and futsal, especially apple cake. It is concluded that dietary intervention can take greater knowledge to athletes; however, it is believed that greater incentives should be performed.
