Nutritional profile of young athletes in different swimming proofs
Abstract
The Adequacy of macro and micronutrients, in the diet of teen athletes follow different patterns, but the consumption of nutrients and energy content, is currently inadequate in many athletic groups. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the dietary profile of teen athletes of swimming. To assess the dietary intake of athletes, It was applied a reminder of three days and the values found were analyzed by the Nutrimed Software, in the version 1.0, year 2006. The data found were presented as median, interquartile deviation, amplitude and percentages. The athletes presented inadequacy of 71.4% of lipids, 100% for calcium and magnesium. The female athletes showed 100% adequacy for carbohydrates and protein, yet the consumption for calcium and magnesium is 100% lower than recommended. Such values found in the current study demonstrate that teen athletes of swimming don't have adequate food of their daily energy needs.
