Evaluation of auto-body image and eating behavior of women
Abstract
Body image can be conceptualized as a multidimensional construct, which is how individuals think, feel and behave about their physical attributes. The aim was to evaluate body image and eating behavior of women attending a clinic school, to diagnose early possible eating disorders. The sample consisted of 60 adult females aged between 19-30 years. The evaluation was made by measuring the measurements of weight (kg), height (m) and waist circumference (cm). To analyze the perception of body image were applied two questionnaires: BSQ and the silhouette of scale. Evaluation of feeding behavior was conducted by the EAT-26. All participants signed the free and informed consent term and Consent Statement on adolescent case. Statistical analysis was performed using the software (SPSS) version 12.0. The results showed the highest prevalence of 85% of body dissatisfaction according silhouettes scales, but there was negative 63.33% for eating disorders and lack of distortion of body image 53.33%, according to EAT-26 and BSQ-34 respectively. The increased demand for care in the clinic was muscle hypertrophy (35%). It follows a predominance of body dissatisfaction with silhouettes of scales, but the results for body distortion and eating disorders had negative rates, showing an image of perception normal standard and low in risk arisings eating disorders.
