Abstract

What we eat can have a significant effect on our health. A healthful nutrition is planned to enhance the nutrient ́s roperties found in the food. From these nutrients, the lipids are the ones that cause controversy, because it is a preoccupation from de health point of view, since its excessive use is associated with the development of chronic degenerated diseases. Even though they can cause problems to health, we need fat, since it has an important function on human ́s nutrition as an essential component of the cellular membranes and nervous fibers. Also, lipid is the primer energy source, giving up to 70% of our entire energy in our rest estate, in which the vital organs are supported. All the steroid hormones in the body are produced from the cholesterol. The fat-soluble vitamins are kept and transported through fat, and the body heat is maintained by the fat under the skin, which is insulating. For the endurance athlete, one of the most important functions of the fat is to provide energy. The muscular and hepatics sources of glycogen are limited, and for this reason, the use of medium chain triglyceryde for the production of energy can delay the exhaustion. In fact, the adaptation occurred in training is an increase of the capacity of using fat as an energy source. The objective of this article is to do a literary review about the effect of medium chain triglyceride in how the endurance exercise is done.
