Body composition and nutritional evaluation in football players
Abstract
The soccer is a modality of sport with intermittent exercises of changeable intensity where, approximately, 88% of a departure involve aerobic activities e, 12%, anaerobic activities of high intensity. The goal of this study is to determine the energy intake that is needed to supply the daily energy requirements of professional soccer players during a competitive season, and compare it with the total energy expenditure and energy intake, analyzing then the body composition of the players. The results show that the body fat of players was about 5.9 ± 1.9% of body weight. The energy intake varied between 1.997Kcal.dia-1 and 2.793 Kcal.dia-1, and the energy expenditure was between 3.010Kcal.dia-1 and 3.404Kcal.dia-1. Three soccer players presented a 14g% blood hemoglobin and one soccer player confirmed to have a leucopenia, showing then a need of anutritional education to help food disorders.
