El papel del té verde en la alteración de la composición corporal de los obesos sedentarios

Resumen

Introducción: Los alimentos con propiedades funcionales promueven la nutrición y varios beneficios para la salud, como la reducción de la aparición y el control de enfermedades crónicas, como la obesidad. La Organización Mundial de la Salud estima que en 2015 la población obesa en el mundo alcanzará los 700 millones de personas si no siguen su recomendación de aumentar la actividad física y controlar su alimentación. Objetivo: Revisar la literatura científica sobre las propiedades, efectos, dosis, forma de presentación y mecanismos de acción del té verde en la alteración de la composición corporal en obesos sedentarios. Revisión de literatura: el té verde ha sido ampliamente utilizado por personas para perder peso. Varios estudios han demostrado que el té verde y sus componentes son capaces, entre otros beneficios, de promover la termogénesis, disminuir la grasa corporal y la oxidación de lípidos, ayudando a prevenir y tratar la obesidad y sus comorbilidades. Los principales mecanismos de acción reportados se refieren al galato de epigalocatequina y la cafeína, que actúan sobre el sistema nervioso simpático, inhibiendo importantes enzimas que participan en el proceso de termogénesis y oxidación lipídica. Conclusión: El té verde promueve, entre otros beneficios, cambios en la composición corporal de los obesos sedentarios. Sin embargo, la dosis y la forma de presentación aún no están definidas y los mecanismos por los cuales el té tiene un efecto en el cuerpo aún deben dilucidarse mejor. Por lo tanto, se necesitan más estudios para aclarar estos aspectos.
