Efecto del té verde sobre la movilización de lípidos y el estrés oxidativo

Resumen

Introducción: Los efectos benéficos del té verde para la salud, actualmente indicados en estudios, lo convierten en una de las bebidas más consumidas en el mundo. Objetivo: el propósito de este artículo es revisar los principales efectos metabólicos de los constituyentes del té verde y su posible uso para la prevención y/o tratamiento de enfermedades asociadas al estrés oxidativo y la obesidad. Metodología: este estudio es de naturaleza bibliográfica, basado en las bases de datos Scielo, Medline, Biremee Highwire. Revisión de la literatura: las catequinas se han identificado como importantes agentes antioxidantes, mediando la función cardioprotectora del té a través de efectos directos e indirectos sobre el sistema cardiovascular. Sobre el metabolismo de los lípidos, las catequinas actúan estimulando segundos mensajeros capaces de estimular la lipólisis, inhibiendo las enzimas limitantes del proceso, además de aumentar la tasa de oxidación de las grasas. Conclusiones: El consumo de té verde puede tener un potente efecto termogénico y antioxidante. En este sentido, se necesita más evidencia para cuantificar mejor las dosis y el manejo de uso.
