I potenziali effetti dell'uso della caffeina come aiuto ergogenico nello sport

Abstract

La caffeina è considerata un ergogenico nutrizionale ampiamente presente in natura. Attualmente è consumato regolarmente da miliardi di persone in tutto il mondo per la sua presenza in molti alimenti. Pur non avendo alcun valore nutritivo, il suo utilizzo è diventato abbastanza comune negli sport per migliorare le prestazioni, soprattutto nelle competizioni di media e lunga durata. Pertanto, il presente studio si propone di esaminare la letteratura, in cui sono stati analizzati diversi articoli su esperimenti con caffeina in diversi tipi di esercizio per verificare l'aumento delle prestazioni fisiche. Nonostante la mancanza di consenso tra i ricercatori sull'efficacia dell'utilizzo di questa sostanza per ottimizzare le prestazioni, molti atleti utilizzano la caffeina senza le cure necessarie, senza una guida medica o nutrizionale, che può portare a effetti collaterali indesiderati o addirittura a compromettere l'integrità fisica degli individui.
